Promoting Unity Through Sports.

“Sports do not build character, they reveal it.”

Hewood Hale Broun

Community Huddle, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that sponsors sports events to provide increased opportunities for police/community engagement. Through these events, participants will have a positive and fun experience through which they can increase dialogue, appreciate differences, and promote openness within the community. Community Huddle looks to move past differences to bridge the gaps in understanding between communities and police in order to build unity in our society.

Our Events

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Community Huddle has not sponsored events in 2020 and 2021. Community Huddle is carefully monitoring public health restrictions in order to begin events in Spring 2022.

Continuing the Dialogue

Community Huddle directors have engaged in a series of interviews with members of various communities, the police, and the sports industry to understand their views on community policing and how joint sports activities can make a difference. These discussions provide insight into what has been effective in breaking down the barriers and starting to build more unified and safe communities.

Resources and Featured Stories

The concept of community policing has been implemented with great success in various communities across the US. The results from these efforts have inspired the Community Huddle model.

“Sport has the power to change the world.

It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. Sport can awaken hope where there was previously only despair. Sport speaks to people in a language they can understand.”

Nelson Mandela
